DAY 7 _ Grace Attracts Greatness
There once was a princess who married a prince BUT they didn’t live happily ever after. The prince tuned into a frog and left her for the help and they it turns out are living happily ever after … who’d have thunk it? Over the years the princess had many opportunities to talk ill about the frog and his family – but she didn’t. Every time someone tried to pull her into it, she would smile, compliment him as the father of her children, and move on. It’s not that she didn’t hurt or that she wasn’t even at some point angry and bitter, it’s just that she chose to take the high road.
In life you will be confronted with some ugly truths. Betrayal, failure, lack, sickness, even death. It’s unto you to take the high road. They say that bitterness is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. It seeps through your world, your heart and eventually your physical body and poisons every area of your life.
Listen to me carefully: Life will sometimes be unfair and we won’t always get what we want. There are some people out there who truly are malicious and there are others who just don’t want to see you prosper. It’s a race and you have the choice to run it with grace or to become ugly and fling some mud.
Grace sometimes means eating humble pie, not defending yourself and waiting for justice. IT means picking your battles and choosing wisely. Mud flinging feels like fun. I mean truly truly it does feel like you are justified when you’re telling the whole world your side of the story. But I learned a long time ago that when you wrestle with a pig, only two things happen. 1) you get muddy and dirty and 2) your opponent gets VERY happy as they wallow in their piggy environment,
Here’s the flip side Taking the high road requires strength, wisdom, perseverance and grace. The whole world (your whole world) is watching your every move and every action and reaction. It’s up to you to chose what you want them to see about you. And once that’s done, IT’S DONE!
People will always remember the negative things you did and said. But great people will never forget the graceful things you chose to do. Grace denotes character and integrity and good leaders, great people, kings are always looking for character and integrity. Grace opens doors to the heart and mind of a kind. Mud opens doors to the heart and mind of a pig. Be very mindful of what life’s experiences bring out of you. You are building your legacy : Choose Mud or choose Grace. I Choose Grace.
There’s a Bible Verse that talks about casting pearls to swine – that’s the OG translation – but I prefer the Message this new school Message Version –
Matthew 7:6The Message (MSG)
6 “Don’t be flip with the sacred. Banter and silliness give no honor to God. Don’t reduce holy mysteries to slogans. In trying to be relevant, you’re only being cute and inviting sacrilege.
That’s my parting shot for you all today – In trying to be relevant, you’re only being cute and inviting sacrilege. – Choose the high road. Choose GRACE because #GRACEATTRACTSGREATNESS
So pick up your notebook, and write down just one situation your’e facing today that would require either grace or mud – and then write down five different ways in which you’re going to chose grace!
I am Beverly Chahonyo and I love you – have a graceful day!
