I sense the tide has turned and the season to see the fruitfulness of the harvest is here. I have this overwhelming sense of excitement. I feel a tension in the air, intangible yet so taut and real. The spiritual atmosphere has changed and the time for sitting back and watching life pass you by and getting away with it is gone. I hear the drumroll and silence, as of a crowd eagerly awaiting their choice candidate to walk out on the podium and announce his success. I see a happy colorful congregation waiting with baited breadth for the moment the beautiful bride will appear within view and they all gasp in unison at her beauty and the beauty of the moment. I am the breathless bride walking down the isle. The confident triumphant warrior returning home with his kill. I am the proud mother cheering her son on as he wins the race, the anxious father hoping my son won’t turn around and realize I let go of the bicycle and he’s on his own. I am the dancing ballerina giving the performance of her life; the well seasoned athlete running the race of his life; the toothless 5-year old who’s father won the 3-legged race. I am all those things and more. In this beautiful, indescribable, breathless moment, I am that I am. Created in the Great I Am’s image and likeness, I can say that.
Can you feel it? Do you sense it? The spiritual atmosphere has changed and the tide has turned. It has turned in my favor, in your favor, in our favor.
Because of that it gives me the courage to do something I have put off for years. I begin to finish that long side-lined project. I peer, cautiously at first, into the pretty little box where my perfectly polished dream seed had been placed. I’m afraid it might not be there anymore – and slowly, surely, mightily I let out a breath. It’s very much there. And hasn’t changed – at least not at first glance. But when I pick it up and examine it, it’s the same, yet different. I have grown since I first planted the seed – and apparently the seed is a reflection of me so as I grow and mature and change (for better or for worse), so does my seed. So my seed has some new scars, as do I. And my seed has a brand new inner glow from my sense of peace (as do I). My seed seems more settled, more refined in it’s resolve to grow, prosper, set roots and succeed – to find it’s destiny; as am I. My seed feels my hurt and pain – and my tears feed my seed.
So as I hold my seed up against the light of the world and ask if I am able, capable, if I really am the chosen one to carry this seed – nurturing it deep in my womb and protecting it with my heart and soul, wrapping my body around it and forming a protective cover around it. Everything I take in affects everything my seed takes in and everything I eject reflects the everything my seed ejects. Everything that I am, my seed is and everything my seed becomes, I will be. So my seed is a reflection of me and I am a refraction of my seed. Same but different. i am broken by the light and the outcome is my seed.
In the same way, we are reflections of God. What He is, we have the potential to become. He gives of Himself everyday to feed us, nurture us, protect us and allow us to grow. What we take from Him, we become and we begin to emit. BUT, whatever we chose to take from our carnal environment we also chose to become and emit.
Mirror Mirror on the wall, Who’s the fairest of them all? That depends on what you choose to become – and that depends on what environment you choose to grow in and draw from. Today, Beverly chooses to be the refraction of the world and the reflection of my Heavenly Father.
Genesis 1:26-28 [The Message Translation]
God spoke: “Let us make human beings in our image, make them
reflecting our nature
So they can be responsible for the fish in the sea,
the birds in the air, the cattle,
And, yes, Earth itself,
and every animal that moves on the face of Earth.”
God created human beings;
he created them godlike,
Reflecting God’s nature.
He created them male and female.
God blessed them:
“Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge!
Be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air,
for every living thing that moves on the face of Earth.”
