Sometimes you have to be suitably demotivated to motivate you into your true calling. I watch people everyday (I love to people-watch and with the right person, it’s so much fun – fits and giggles is how I’d describe it). The thing about the human being is that we are wired to settle into our comfort zone. We spend all day chasing after things so that we can hopefully at night settle down in a safe place and chill. We spend all our lives working so that at the end of our lives we can retire. But here’s the interesting part:
- Statistics show that at least 80% of humanity lives on less than $10 dollars a day.
- The poorest 40 percent of the world’s population accounts for 5 percent of global income. The richest 20 percent accounts for three-quarters of world income.
- Nearly a billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names.
- There are over 2.2 billion children in the world – approximately 1 billion of them live in poverty (that translates to every 2nd Child)
- The wealthiest nation on Earth has the widest gap between rich and poor of any industrialized nation.
So here’s the thing. I could go on and on and on about things that make us uncomfortable. But the thing about those things is that they inspire us to push forward and move faster and work harder towards our goals – at least for me they do. I went through a bump like that today, I was positively demoralized about a certain project. And it was an amazing experience. It catapulted me into thinking, dreaming, daring, planning, strategize more. It inspired me to dig deep and go for what I know I was created to do. To inspire others through my sound, my story, my song, my laughter, my tears, my joy, my struggles, my victory, through Me.
So here’s my question to you today. What is it that you’re spending your life doing, while all along that thing is drowning your voice and dulling your light? Are you using your gift? What were you born to do? To fix? to celebrate? To challenge? To break?
Today I’m here to shake you out of this comfort zone called ” Your Life” and kick you into gear. Perhaps if she had cowered in the corner and listened to the world, Oprah Winfrey wouldn’t have touched so many lives. Perhaps if she had cowered in the corner and listened to the world, Wangari Maathai wouldn’t have touched so many lives. Perhaps if she had cowered in the corner and listened to the world, Mother Teresa wouldn’t have touched so many lives. Perhaps if she had cowered in the corner and listened to the world, Beverly Chahonyo wouldn’t have touched so many lives. Perhaps if she had cowered in the corner and listened to the world, YOU wouldn’t have touched so many lives.
How many lives are waiting for your voice to speak?
How many dreams will be ignited if you share your story?
How many souls will be liberated if you play your part?
It’s time to stop being afraid, It’s time to stop being ashamed, It’s time to stop being silent. It’s time to speak out and make a difference.
