According to WEBMD (https://www.webmd.com/baby/guide/premature-labor#1), Preterm Labor is defined as “when your body starts getting ready for birth too early in the pregnancy”. This often leads to premature birth of babies, putting the baby at risk, depending on how early in the pregnancy the baby came. Obviously the earlier, the baby comes, the higher the risk that they will not survive because they are not fully developed to live outside of the body of the mother and all the protection and nutrition provided in that incubated environment. Their systems (digestive, respiratory, immune, etc) and the organs required to support these systems have not come into full capacity hence cannot function (sometimes at all). What happens then is that the baby is put in isolation and in an incubator where, depending on how early they came, modern technology has been developed to breathe for them, feed them, extract impurities from the body, clean the blood, and sometimes even pump blood around the body. Most times they cannot be held and handled even though human touch does have amazing healing powers. Their eyes are sometimes covered so that the lights that will help correct the chemical balance in the body and skin do not damage their sight. At this point, only immediate family (mainly just the parents) and select medical personnel are allowed to come in contact with the baby. You absolutely cannot afford to expose them to anything or anyone, however well intending, as the more you expose baby to (too soon), the greater the risk of infection of any and every kind. The environment is sterile and kept that way.
I have learned through my own life experiences that often times, we cause the premature birth of our dreams and visions by speaking too soon and exposing these “babies” to environments they are not yet ready for. The systems required to support them are not fully developed hence the risk of them not surviving is high. In relation to yesterday’s post (http://www.beautifulpetals.com/uncategorized/31daysofwoohoo-day-6-safety-is-for-losers/), the environment you expose them to comes with opinions, directives, well intended advise and just NOISE in general from people who have not conceived the notion, do not believe in the idea and may never accept the possibilities. According to an article published in 2015, Researchers found that environmental noise—background music, city sounds, people’s conversations—leads to a decrease in performance for most people. However, they also conducted various exercises and found that some noise (white noise – e.g. the sound of a fan or a low constant hum) is better than disruptive noise (disrupted speech or conversation where you hear one or two words every once in a while) which was found to be worse than actual free flowing speech, which in turn was found the be worse than white noise. I have said a lot to come to this conclusion. In your journey, learn to SHUT YOUR MOUTH! Speaking too early or to the wrong people (or even the right well intended but unbelieving people) runs the risk of killing your baby. Don’t speak too soon about your dreams, Not everyone is in your corner. Not everyone cares. And sadly, there are those who are out to cause the abortion of your dreams. There are those who are intentional about disrupting your gestation period because their end game is to cause the premature birth or actual death of your dreams. Not everyone is celebrating with you every time you post on social media. The biggest deceiver of the 21st century is social media. Those “friends” and “followers” sometimes are just people who want a front row seat in the demise of your destiny. And as is the case of the premature babies, even immediate and extended family must be kept away from the baby because no matter how well intended, a germ is still a germ and an infection is still an infection and the things a mature body and immune system can handle, can prove fatal to an underdeveloped baby.
So here’s the long and short of it all. If you want to succeed, it is paramount that you learn to SHUT THE HECK UP lest you run the risk of being a suicide bomber to your own vision and eventually stop believing in your greatness. It’s day 7 of our #31daysofwoohoo journey. Shut up and keep going – it’s going to be ok.
